Dickieson, Allan (Al) James
1944 – 2019
After a short struggle with heart failure and surrounded by loving family and friends, Al passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener, on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in his 75th year. Survived by his devoted wife Betty, his loving sons, Rick (Kathy), Scott (Lisa), daughter in-law Tracey. Very proud grandfather of Matthew, Ryan, Adam, Luke, Joshua and Danni. His loss will leave a void in the hearts and souls of brothers John (Marie), Dave, Garry (Bev); sisters Lynn (Luc) and Donna (Steve). He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and many other extended family members. Predeceased by parents Bernice Dickieson, Keith Dickieson and his youngest son Bob (47), on February 25, 2019. He loved being a long-distance truck driver. He worked at Euclid for 10 years. As a licenced millwright, he worked in many departments at the City of Guelph. Really enjoyed spending his winters with his wife in Mesa, Arizona where he had many friends and enjoyed playing shuffleboard. His many friends will miss his ready smile and infectious laugh.
Many thanks to the paramedics and police officers for their quick action and compassion in such a dire situation. The doctors and staff at the Guelph General Hospital ER dept. were amazing. Very special thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener CCU dept; the night nurse on 3rd floor CCU/Medicine was so thoughtful and caring. Al was transferred there for his last night. Could not have done this without the exceptional guidance of the 911 operator and the two police officers, they made a bad situation better for his wife.
